Other times testing in the school can be distracting or cause test anxiety in some students. Often times, evaluations through the school is a process that takes a long time causing many gifted students to remain without proper placement which can in turn lead to boredom and underachievement. In order for a child to be individually evaluated, the parent or guardian must give written consent. The evaluation may include tests, observations, interviews or other ways of gathering information.
